If you are camping on Friday night, please check in at the Camp Master Cabin when you arrive. 

Saturday, June 3, 2023

6:10am                            

Depart Yonkers for Durland Scout Reservation (allow 50 minute drive time)

7:00 am - 8:00am        

Check in; Set up tents at campsite if sleeping overnight on Saturday. NOTE:  You can arrive later and set your tent up during lunch or before dinner.

 

8:00 am - 8:15am        

Park car at Sperling if parking is full at our campsite

 

9am:          

Opening Ceremony at Sperling Center

9:00am - 5:00pm         

Archery, Crafts, Hiking, Scout Skills, Nature, BB Guns

5:00pm                            

Dinner volunteers start dinner at Pack 6 campsite. $10 per person for hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.)  Pack 6 must register and pay in advance. We are cooking at our campsite.

 

8pm           

Council Campfire at the fire ring. Bring a flashlight, skits and songs!

 

Approx. 8:30pm           

Pack 6 Campfire at our assigned campsite.  S’mores, skits and songs!

 

10:00pm - 7am             

Quiet Hours. NO ELECTRONICS on Cub Scout events.

First-Time Users:  Go to https://mycouncil.ghvbsa.org/ and create an account with a username and password BEFORE signing up for Cub Family Camping.

 

All Users: 

Go to https://mycouncil.ghvbsa.org/Event/5943

  1. .Sign-in with your Username and Password. Located in upper right-hand corner of screen.

  2. SEE SCREENSHOTS post to the left to guide you through the system.

  3. Register as a "Group" aka "Family." and enter the number of children and adults. Click NEXT.

  4. At the next screen, called Event Order, click on the red "ADD INFORMATION" button.

  5. Enter information to let them know you are with Pack 6 Crestwood:  Box 1: Unit Type is “Pack”, Box 2: Pack Number:  Type in “0006”, Box 3:  Type is “Boy Pack” City:  Yonkers, Council:  Greater Hudson Valley (388). Click POPULATE and Select “Pack 6-BP - Crestwood, NY – Greater Hudson Valley Council (388)”

  6. If you are ordering lunch, enter your specifics. Or skip and bring a bagged lunch. If you are tent camping, select that option. There is an additional $20 charge

  7.  “Save Registration to Shopping Cart” and Click “NEXT”

  8. Review the summary screen. If there is a mistake, click “Update.” If it is correct, click “Checkout.”

  9. Select your payment method and click “NEXT.”

  10. Enter credit card information and click “NEXT.”

  11. Confirm Your Order:  Check the box to indicate you have read and agree with the Council Payment and Refund Policy. Click “Proceed with Payment”

  12. Screen will read as “Your transaction has been successfully processed.” You will be sent a receipt to your email address.

Parking & Carpooling

Drivers should then drive down and park at Sperling Center. 

 

Driving Directions

  • Sprain Brook Parkway North to Taconic State Parkway North. Exit the Taconic at the Bryant Pond Road exit.

  • Turn Left at end of exit. Cross over the parkway and turn right to remain on Bryant Pond Road.

  • At the end of the road, turn right onto Peekskill Hollow Road (Palumbo Soccer Camp on your left).

  • Turn Left onto Wiccopee Road.

  • 6/10 mile to Oscawana Heights Road. Turn Left onto Oscawana Heights Road.

  • 1-7/10 miles to Northshore Road. Turn Right onto Northshore Road.

  • 0.4 miles to Camp Entrance on Right. You will now be on a dirt road.

  • Drive past the Campmaster and cabins (approx. 1 mile).

  • Park in the Sperling Parking Lot. Walk back to the cabins.

Tent Camping Location, Sleeping Arrangements 

Pack 6 will be assigned to one  campsite.

 

BSA's Youth Protection rules apply. Scouts may only tent with other youth or their parents. Scouts may NOT be in a tent with an adult that is not their parent/guardian.


PACKING TIPS--WHAT TO BRING

 

GEAR FOR CAMPSITE:  Pack 6 has tents to loan to any Cub Scout family who needs one

  • Tent (for 3 people you want a 4-man tent, for 4 people you want a 5-man tent, and so on)

  • Ground cloth (heavy-duty plastic sheet that goes underneath your tent (should be same dimension/footprint as your tent; provides moisture barrier and protects bottom of your tent from rocks, pebbles)

  • Roll/Pad to put inside the tent and underneath your sleeping bag (provides moisture/temperature barrier). Can get a foam roll or inflatable.

  • Sleeping bag

  • Pillow

 

DAYPACK FOR SATURDAY

  • Bagged lunches

  • Extra food to eat after lunch/before dinner

  • Bottled water

  • Snacks

  • Hat

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug repellent (no aerosol sprays allowed)

  • Poncho

  • Personal first aid kit

  • Whistle (in case you get lost)

  • Camera

OVERNIGHT PERSONAL GEAR

  • Flashlight

  • Folding chair (optional)

  • Sweatshirt/sweater

  • Extra pair of shoes (in case other pair gets wet)

  • Toiletries and Pajamas

  • 2 pairs of socks

  • 2 sets of underwear

  • Extra pants/shirt

  • Change of clothes for Sunday
