WEEKEND PROGRAM, Sat, Feb 10, 2024
For Lion, Tiger, Wolf & Bear Scouts ONLY
12pm: Scouts arrive and eat lunch
1pm: Age-appropriate hike and requirements for the following Adventures: Lion “Mountain Lion”, Tiger “Tigers in the Wild,” Wolf “Paws on the Path,” and Bear “Bear Necessities”
Cub Scouts “Six Essentials” to bring on a hike, Leave No Trace, Outdoor Code, Buddy System, Knot tying and Winter games (depending on amount of snow)
Daytime skits (for scouts who are not sleeping over) Adventures: “Tiger Theatre”, Wolf “Howling at the Moon”, and Bear “Roaring Laughter”
Approx. 4:30pm: Bobcat Awards & Closing Ceremony. Lion, Tiger, Wolf and Bear scouts depart for home.
For Webelos & Arrow of Light scouts ONLY
9:30am Saturday: Dens arrive
Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts and parents are invited to spend Saturday with Boy Scout Troop 1 Crestwood and will follow a different schedule.
AGENDA
10am to Noon: Boy Scouts will help these scouts complete requirements for rank advancement.
Noon to 1pm: Lunch
1pm to 4:30pm: Webelos and Arrow of Light will join up with the rest of Pack 6 for hike and other activities.
Activities will cover help the scouts complete requirements for Webelos and Arrow of Light. Possible activities include Webelos “Cast Iron Chef” and “Castaway” and Arrow of Light “Scouting Adventure” requirements 4, 5ab, and 6.
4:30pm onward. Dinner & Overnight Option for Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts: Cub Scouts and Scout Parents staying overnight on Saturday will cook and eat dinner and dessert. Scouts will also perform skits and songs during campfire program.
Cost: Dens to menu plan and purchase groceries. Money to be collected. No money is due for cabin rental; has been paid with popcorn money.
Sun, Feb 11 Departure: We will depart around 9am after sweeping and returning the cabin in broom sweep condition and passing inspection.

Parking & Carpooling
Each cabin has 2 parking spaces near its driveways. NO cars can park on the road.
Overflow cars may temporarily park to drop off gear at the cabin. Drivers should then drive down and park at Sperling Center. Walk back up to the cabins.
Carpooling is encouraged…and makes the trip more fun for your son and his buddy!
Driving Directions

Sprain Brook Parkway North to Taconic State Parkway North. Exit the Taconic at the Bryant Pond Road exit.

Turn Left at end of exit. Cross over the parkway and turn right to remain on Bryant Pond Road.

At the end of the road, turn right onto Peekskill Hollow Road (Palumbo Soccer Camp on your left).

Turn Left onto Wiccopee Road.

6/10 mile to Oscawana Heights Road. Turn Left onto Oscawana Heights Road.

1-7/10 miles to Northshore Road. Turn Right onto Northshore Road.

0.4 miles to Camp Entrance on Right. You will now be on a dirt road.

Drive past the Campmaster and cabins (approx. 1 mile).

Park in the Sperling Parking Lot. Walk back to the cabins.
Cabin Location, Sleeping Arrangements & Privacy when changing clothes
Troop 1 and Pack 6 have rented a cabin that sleeps 40 people (link).
Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts will coordinate their menu planning and food purchasing. All cookware and utensils must be brought with us. "Pack in, Pack out."
What are the cabins like??

See photos above. Cabins are heated and feature bunk beds, a kitchen, and dining area.

Sleeping areas for Dads/Sons and Mom/Sons: Per BSA Youth Protection rules, each group type will sleep in separate areas.
Changing Clothes & Privacy:

Each cabin has a two smaller rooms with doors that can be used as changing rooms. Scouts/parents can also change in the bathroom.
